The latest published edition
The November 6, 2026 Federal Register edition contains 80 documents in the complete API response: 11 rules, 5 proposed rules, 62 notices, and 2 presidential documents. Its agency fields name 43 distinct agencies. One document can name more than one agency, so that agency count is not another total of documents.
The Federal Register is where federal agencies publish rules, proposals, notices and other official documents. A publication date tells you when a document appeared in the edition. It does not, by itself, establish that every requirement began that day. This briefing keeps the source document type, any supplied effective date, and any supplied comment deadline separate.
Four labels that change how to read a document
A Rule and a Proposed Rule are different stages. A proposed rule asks readers to examine a proposal, often with a period for comments; publication of the proposal does not make it a final rule. A Notice can cover an agency announcement, meeting, application or information collection. Presidential documents form their own source category. The count graphic uses those API labels without calling every document a new law.
Six entries are listed below, ordered by document type and then document number. They are a small, reproducible selection from the complete edition, not a ranking of which action will affect you most. Titles identify the subject; read the linked official PDF for the controlling text, exceptions, applicability, schedules and any later corrections. This page calculates metadata and does not infer a legal or financial consequence from a title.

Keep the edition and the legal text in view
FederalRegister.gov describes its HTML and XML rendition as an informational edition. For legal research, its own guidance directs readers to verify the document against the official print or electronic edition on GovInfo. Each selected entry below therefore links to its matching GovInfo PDF as well as the readable FederalRegister.gov page. No government logo or claim of government endorsement is used here.
The updater first finds the latest published date and then requests the entire edition for that date. Weekends, holidays and publication gaps do not create a new edition simply because the website checks again. An unchanged edition retains the article update date; a failed or incomplete response retains the last valid report. Source revisions can change later updates. Use the source search to inspect other dates and documents beyond this selection.
